7th Simian T-Shirts coming soon on Tee And You

We are looking for models with an alternative look and tattoos (preferably on the forearms, so they can be seen in a t-shirt) to work TFP.

Please contact 7th Simian Photography through their myspace here.

The Infinite Monkey Cage

The Infinite Monkey Cage was a BBC Radio 4 comedy/scientific discussion presented by Brian Cox (particle physicist and fellow of the Royal Society) and Robin Ince (BA English and Drama). Episode one contains a particularly funny discussion with Dara O'Briain and Dr Alice Roberts about the public understanding of science, and about how people tend to think that their own opinion is equally valid even on subjects about which they know nothing.

You may be wondering what this has got to do with t-shirts. And the answer is, of course, not much, but Kev at TeeAndYou loves this stuff.

Read about the show here, or download the torrent here.

The Scientific Method - the best thing ever:

1. Observation and description of a phenomenon or group of phenomena.

2. Formulation of an hypothesis to explain the phenomena. In physics, the hypothesis often takes the form of a causal mechanism or a mathematical relation.

3. Use of the hypothesis to predict the existence of other phenomena, or to predict quantitatively the results of new observations.

4. Performance of experimental tests of the predictions by several independent experimenters and properly performed experiments.

If the experiments bear out the hypothesis it may come to be regarded as a theory or law of nature (more on the concepts of hypothesis, model, theory and law below). If the experiments do not bear out the hypothesis, it must be rejected or modified. What is key in the description of the scientific method just given is the predictive power (the ability to get more out of the theory than you put in) of the hypothesis or theory, as tested by experiment. It is often said in science that theories can never be proved, only disproved. There is always the possibility that a new observation or a new experiment will conflict with a long-standing theory.

CERN podcast

CERN Podcast - The Large Hadron Collider

At Tee And You we love the Large Hadron Collider. Love it! Exciting physics on a mass scale. Ignore the mainstream press complaining that it's not working. They just don't understand what science is. This is it!!!

"Take the biggest experiment in the history of the universe (well, this universe anyway). Take some well known people from all sorts of walks of life. Take a former keyboard player from D:Ream, now a physics professor. Mix them altogether for half an hour or so to serve up a cocktail of entertaining chat shows with a bit of particle physics thrown in. And you wouldn’t get that on Channel 4 would you?"
